Physical Changes - the YinExcited is to say the least when it comes to how I feel about the new developments to the clinic. Construction was an amazing success and things are coming together beautifully, if I do say so myself. Part Japanese secret sanctuary, part cozy jazz hide-away - Manhattan Sports Acupuncture is the place you can find authentic, effective traditional East Asian medicine with clear clinical results. Now when you walk in, you will be welcomed into a spacious waiting area where you can relax, take your shoes and coat off, center and hydrate yourself before your treatment in one of our three new private treatment rooms. Everyday the clinic grows to be the place I want to welcome you into, where I can best care for you. Please enjoy a preview of the changes so far! New techniques, protocols and knowledge - the YangI have finally completed my second and final Japanese study abroad program. Upon reflection, the opportunity to expand my knowledge, skills and understanding of traditional Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion has been incredibly transformative. Through the incredible generosity of a number of renown and respected Masters of Japanese Acupuncture, I have the opportunity to further broaden and deepen my services to you. In essence, giving me an opportunity to create inner changes to go along with the physical changes of the clinic. There are a number of things I am currently working to incorporate into the services of Manhattan Sports Acupuncture - so keep an eye out! One thing you can look forward to is the introduction of facial rejuvenation treatments, in the tradition of Ooasa Sensei. Ooasa Sensei emphasizes patient communication and consultation, analysis of neck, head and facial anatomy, and techniques for immediate noticeable changes. I was amazed and I think you will be too. Another new development I am working to offer is a treatment for exhaustion. Our group was lucky enough to come into contact with a woman who invented a special tool for raising the the body's yang with moxa. Her "Moxa Hat" allows for the perfect conduction of heat to Bai Hui or Du 20 - the apex of the body where all meridians converge. Currently only available in Japan and France, I was fortunate enough to acquire a Moxa Hat for the clinic. Other changes will be more subtle, as I work to incorporate new ideas into my work. For example, much of this training focused on developing the skill of Japanese style "painless" needing. The Japanese as a whole emphasize comfort, so it is not surprising that in acupuncture they would strive for treatments with "painless" needling through the specific hand and mind techniques. When appropriate, this technique can be very useful - especially in cases of a very weak constitution or complex treatments. Additional, we spent a great deal of time working to enhance our ability to diagnose through pulse taking, abdominal palpation and body flow observation. The amount of information that was covered was staggering. But the information was taught in such a way, there are certainly many things that I will be able to incorporation into Manhattan Sports Acupuncture. In the spirit of Japan, I hope to improve my ability to address your dis-ease. Here are a few pictures from my time in Kyoto!
